This booklet published by the forestry group, provides a practical guide to identifying common insects and fungi that can infect logs and lumber and thus prohibit their export, or result in costly quarantine treatment in order to meet the importing country's requirements.
Assistance in Identification of Fungi and Insects
The booklet includes brief written descriptions with photos to assist with identification. Logs and lumber can unintentionally become the host to numerous different types of insects and fungi, some of which may only have a limited or cosmetic effect on forest produce while others can cause serious degrade.
