Biosecurity Information Services
Our information systems and technology has been carefully designed to capture and manage biosecurity information at each stage of the supply chain.
State-of-the-art Geospatial Technology
We've enabled our network of information systems with state-of-the-art geospatial technology that interprets data to produce maps and reports that can be tailored to a particular biosecurity event.
We can implement information systems and geospatial and textual tools that match property data with information on livestock, crops, forests and vineyards. This guarantees rapid identification and location of infected and at-risk properties, as well as species to contain, minimise or prevent the spread of pests and diseases.
The sophisticated disease control management, traceability, epidemiological analysis and reporting functions within AsureQuality systems enable our team of scientists, epidemiologists and biosecurity response specialists to respond to incursions accurately and effectively.
Using AgriBase™ in biosecurity emergencies
AgriBase™ combines farm, vineyard, fisheries, orchard, forest and sale yard data from more than 105, 000 properties, with information about herds, flocks and individual livestock and crops as well as details about the individuals and businesses who own and manage them. It is a database that is geospatially enabled and created specifically for biosecurity purposes and national land use monitoring activities.
Geographic Information System (GIS) specialists are able to interpret the data stored on AgriBase™ to provide the following geospatial services:
- Model and analyse disease spread to better prepare New Zealand for potential incursions
- Create maps of stock and crop locations to identify at-risk properties
- Report on stock movements to provide traceability
- Plan disease response and surveillance operations
- Plan surveillance strategies
- Plan locations of aerial spray treatments / traps
- Produce reports on individual properties within identified areas
- Provide contact details for affected or at-risk properties (only available for emergency response purposes)
